CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES
The project focuses on the elevation of a building within a marina in Le Grau-du-Roi, in a Mediterranean seaside environment. The objective was to create a contemporary, discreet volume in harmony with the coastal landscape, while optimizing the use of spaces and views offered by the site.
ARCHITECTURAL APPROACH
The project plays on contrasts between interior volumes and exterior perspectives. The inspiration comes from the world of the Camargue, with references to Mediterranean landscapes in the choice of shapes and proportions. The pergola and wooden soffits introduce plays of shadow and light while defining exterior spaces. The interior is modular and designed for practicality: custom furniture, fold-away bed and folding table allow adapting rooms to different uses without sacrificing the elegance of volumes.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
The wooden frame respects the existing building and limits environmental impact. Natural materials – wood and finishes in harmony with local architecture – contribute to the visual and tactile coherence of the project. Technical and construction choices emphasize durability, while enhancing light and the verticality of volumes, for a whole that is both functional and contemporary.
