CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES
This project consists of the rehabilitation of a former manor house annex in Laval, transformed into a 115 m² individual home. The main objective was to bring the place back to life while preserving its authenticity, while offering fluid, comfortable and energy-efficient spaces. Each intervention was designed to create a harmonious dialogue between architecture, light and natural environment.
ARCHITECTURAL APPROACH
The volumes were redesigned to maximize natural light and create open, convivial spaces. Large glazed windows promote the link between interior and garden, while metal beams and brick walls have been restored to preserve the historic soul of the building. Contemporary elements, such as the spiral staircase, bring dynamism and modernity, while integrating with existing structures. The whole offers a spatial experience that is both functional, poetic and welcoming.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
The project favors raw, durable and timeless materials: wood, stone, steel, combined with biosourced materials such as hemp and lime, in an ecological and environmentally friendly approach. Each architectural choice aims to enhance material and light, while limiting the energy impact of the house. The overall approach illustrates AREA ARCHITECT's vision: creating unique, sustainable places deeply connected to their context.
