CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES
The project consists of the rehabilitation of a former farmhouse, transformed into an individual home. The main challenge was to preserve traces of the past and enhance them as a true asset, while reorganizing the volumes to offer open, bright and comfortable spaces. Each intervention aims to create a balance between heritage, modernity and respect for the environment.
ARCHITECTURAL APPROACH
The volumes have been redesigned to offer great fluidity and a sense of space, notably through a cathedral ceiling and the complete opening of a facade to the outside, directly connecting the house to the garden. The old drinking troughs were recovered and integrated into the project, testifying to the agricultural history of the place. The whole combines respect for the past and contemporary boldness, while favoring natural light and views to the outside.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
The project showcases durable and local materials: lime plasters, wood, iron sheets (used as heat diffusers to complement underfloor heating) and tiles recovered from another site in a short-circuit approach. This approach combines ecology, comfort and aesthetics, while highlighting the material and authenticity of the building. Each architectural choice contributes to creating a unique place where the past harmoniously dialogues with the present.
